Hyper-Realistic Meta Catwalk
The META-CATWALK showcases how AI-generated imagery can be integrated with real-life runway to create innovative and engaging experiences.
An innovative collaboration between VFX and AI artist Atara and the Fashion Innovation Agency (FIA) at the London College of Fashion, this project used cutting-edge AI-generation and VFX technology to create a hyper-realistic runway inspired by the distinctive style of iconic fashion designers to showcase the possibilities of AI-assisted generative art and how it can push the boundaries of self-expression and creativity.
AI models were anchored in datasets curated from the creative works of five iconic fashion designers, alongside imagery that captures the brand’s aesthetic.
Employing Midjourney to generate concepts, a diverse array of AI models were trained using Dreambooth and stable diffusion technologies. ATARA integrated these AI models with evaluation of a series of archival fashion show footage from London College of Fashion. The archive video was overlaid with newly created AI-generated models, garments and environments to create a hyper-realistic meta catwalk.

This project offers a glimpse into a future where fashion designers and technologists work hand in hand, using open-source AI tools to push the boundaries of self-expression and creativity. The aim would be to produce a tool where a user could simply type the name of a designer, or a style description, and see a catwalk video transformed and overlaid with new generated footage to match.
