Reskinning Reality: DIY

A prompt-driven evolution of Reskinning Reality, integrating ComfyUI into Blender to make digital garment experimentation accessible.

Reskinning Reality: Game Engine Ready brought digital humans, garments and environments together inside Unreal Engine. Reskinning Reality: DIY turns its attention to who can use the pipeline. By integrating ComfyUI directly into Blender, this phase allows garment changes to be driven by text prompts rather than manual 3D rework.

Reskinning Reality: DIY

DIY moves Reskinning Reality beyond a specialist technical workflow and into the hands of designers, creatives and practitioners who currently lack the entry point to work with digital garment tools.

Blender is free, open source, and already widely used across gaming, film, virtual production and 3D design. Embedding ComfyUI directly inside it means designers work within a single environment rather than moving between separate tools. ComfyUI connects text-based prompts to automated image generation pipelines, allowing a designer to type a description: a fabric, colour, or texture, and have that variation generated and applied to an existing garment render without returning to manual 3D processes.

Type a description. Generate a variation. No advanced 3D modelling or simulation expertise required.
The system was assessed against visual likeness, garment quality and compatibility between tools. Early results demonstrate that meaningful creative variation is achievable from a single base render, and that the gap between a designer’s written intention and a rendered garment outcome is narrowing. The workflow remains in active development. Reskinning Reality: DIY is the proof of concept for what comes next.
